Richard Griffiths interpretó al insoportable tío de Harry Potter, Vernon, durante toda la saga de películas. Griffiths también fue un actor de teatro que ganó muchos premios de prestigio, incluyendo un premio Tony por su papel en The History Boys. Por desgracia, falleció el 28 de marzo de 2013 a la edad de 65 años por complicaciones debidas a una cirugía de corazón. El recibió la condecoración OBE (Excelentísima Orden del Imperio Británico) gracias a su desempeño como actor. Pocos saben que apareció en Superman II (una de las primeras películas del “hombre de acero”) y también en una película de la saga de Piratas del Caribe.
