Mel Gibson, ondanks zijn controversiële verleden, heeft een onuitwisbare stempel op de filmindustrie gedrukt met zijn gedenkwaardige acteerprestaties in iconische films zoals Brave Heart, Mad Max en de Lethal Weapon-reeks. Het is gemakkelijk voor te stellen dat zijn fysieke rollen en stuntwerk zijn levensverzekeringspolis behoorlijk duur zullen hebben gemaakt. Mel en zijn voormalige echtgenote Robyn Moore hebben samen een zoon, Milo.
