John David Washington & Denzel Washington
Het pad dat John David Washington volgde onthulde aanvankelijk een verlangen om niet simpelweg in de schaduw van zijn beroemde vader, Denzel Washington, te staan. In plaats daarvan koos hij voor een carrière in professioneel voetbal, waarbij hij uitkwam voor de St. Louis Rams gedurende vier seizoenen. Desondanks bracht deze sportloopbaan hem niet de vervulling waarnaar hij op zoek was, waarna John een aanzienlijke carrièreswitch maakte richting de acteerwereld.
Deze beslissing bleek voordelig voor John, met name door zijn rol in de HBO-serie Ballers waar hij veel lof voor ontving. De vraag of John David het monumentale erfgoed van zijn vader zal evenaren of zelfs overstijgen blijft openstaan, ook al beschikt hij duidelijk over de fysieke aanwezigheid en talent die zo kenmerkend zijn voor de Washington-dynastie.
