Ele foi pessoalmente selecionado pela lenda do Brasil, Pelé, em 1999, aos 15 anos. Robinho liderou o Santos em seu primeiro título no Campeonato Brasileiro, e Pelé também jogou pelo clube. Ganhou o título italiano da Série A, que foi sua primeira temporada no Milan. Robinho se casou com Vivian Guglielmetti em 2009, e eles têm dois filhos juntos.
